Well Amigos in cyberspace, just when you think you’re staying put in South Carolina lo and behold the next thing you know you’re pulling up at the Dairy Queen just over the LooseyAnna border in Carthage, Texas. You remember the Bernie movie with the local Peeps from Carthage? The Red Man has now visited Bernie’s DQ and eaten French fries from there and driven by the First Baptist Church of Carthage where Bernie no doubt supervised many a funeral.. Auntie Am brought the Bernie movie to Casa de Canterbury Thursday night when she came from Charleston to drive the old woman Slow and Paw Licker Annie and moi to Worsham Street. She and Pretty watched it while Slow finished packing her pills and other whatnot. Evidently it was a very funny Peep flick because there was a lot of laughing going on. Little did any of us know that we would be driving right through Bernie’s hometown two days later. Weird. Serendipity. Whatever.
Dodge Dakota pulls into DQ
We’re in Texas all right
Texas favorites – Slow’s comfort food
Hurry up old woman! I don’t have all day. Geez Louise.
Well Sports Fans, four paws up to the DQ and we’re glad to be back in the ‘Hood. Paw Licker Annie is happy for the porch and I say let her have it if she wants it. As for The Red Man – he’s looking for the cool spots. Get me outta this heat Percy…
Oh French Fries! My puppies love French Fries!

Yes, you know I love a small town in Texas so I loved stopping at a DQ for a chocolate shake that was lip-smacking good!! I didn’t know your people were from that far East Texas. God’s country for sure. 🙂

It sounds like you had the grande (could that pass for grand in Spanish?) tour of Carthage. Paw Licker Annie looks right at home on her porch, and it is good to know that you have returned to the heart of Texas!

Oh Dairy Queen…sigh…Ma’s favorite place to load up on food to settle her nerves. I always get a little cup of vanilla ice cream. Ma says someone she knows suggested a chili dog for medicinal purposes, so I think a trip to the DQ is imminent!
Love,
Your Poppy

We live at Dairy Queen AND have it stored in our freezer (hubby is gluten free and that’s one treat he doesn’t have to worry about since I’m not sure they use real ingredients). My favorite is that pecan blizzard. Yum. Not gluten free.

At our house we have a terrible habit of introducing people to DQ. It feels like we’re hooking them on some kind of drug addiction as they invariably get excited and want more!

It’s been fantastic! Very busy indeed and the weather is really behaving (which is always a plus!) Down side is that my mother has become ill so that’s taken a bit of the shine off my days. Other than that, the kids had a ball and the last one (my daughter) goes home on Saturday – I miss her already! 😦
