Well, well, well. The fifteen-day US Open Tennis Tournament in New York City ended this evening with the Men’s Final and Rafael Nadal won in four sets over Novak Djokovic in another classic match between two guys who play with guts and gusto. Yessiree, there was definitely joy in Mudville tonight when Rafa outlasted Djoko’s Mojo. The old woman Slow is, as all of our cyberspace Sports Fans know, a Rafa lover. She thinks he looks like Elvis Presley but that has nothing to do with tennis so who cares.
Rafa and Novak – Trophy Presentation
Thank you very much
Queen Sofia of Spain was in the Players’ Box with Rafa’s family and other friends and was very happy that he won. Not everybody has a Queen in their Box.
Queen Sofia very proud of Nadal
Yesterday in the Women’s Singles Final Serena Williams beat Victoria Azarenka in three sets to collect her fifth US Open title.
Serena all smiles as she raises her fifth trophy
Azarenka can’t believe she lost
Serena has now won 17 Grand Slam singles titles and Rafa has won 13 on the men’s side. Each of them collected equal prize money of $3.6 million dollars for their wins. The Red Man sends Paw Snaps and Twirls to the Winners and a box of Milk Bones to the runners–up. The winners can afford their own treats.
And speaking of winners, Ellen DeGeneres started the 11th season of her talk show today.
Ellen looking good for 11th season
The Red Man and Slow and Pretty are all Ellen fans and send her Paw Snaps and Twirls and best wishes for another fine season. The numbers are all odd tonight (11, 13, 17) but the Winners bring TMG which stands for Too Much Game over their obstacles and opponents as they raise their respective trophies.
Get me outta here Percy…I’m exhausted from Sports Stressing and need to find me an old Frasier episode to relieve my tension…Eddie always makes me laugh.
Yay to all three fabulous winners!

Honestly Don this US Open had some of the best tennis I’ve ever seen and I’ve been watching for fifty years! Longest Women’s Final since 1980 and the momentum swings were as unbelievable as the ones during the Men’s Final between two of the greatest guys ever to take the court. If Nadal stays fit, the Australian might have the same final two down under.

I think Mommy and I were as happy for Slow at the end of that men’s final as we were for Mr. Nadal. Let’s face it, Red Man, Slow took some pretty hard sports hits on Saturday, so she really deserved this victory. And now we have Ellen to fill the afternoon void that has been left by the end of the U.S. Open. That worked out well, right sports fans?

Exactly Miss Harper Lee – many thanks to you and your Mommy for the Nadal Support. Slow was absolutely thrilled and her mood was definitely improved over the one she had during the Football Weekend from Hell. And yes Ellen is always a fun alternative to sports! 🙂
