Well Amigos the USA game with Portugal in the Amazon jungle of Brazil where it was hot and humid ended in a 2 – 2 tie tonight, and Pretty and the old woman Slow are staring at each other in disbelief. How Team USA was able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with fewer than thirty seconds left we will never know, but there you have it. Wham, bam thank you ma’am. If only time hadn’t stood still in the extra five minutes. That fifth minute was the killer.
Since nobody at Casa de Canterbury is on top of this futbol thing, Pretty spent the second half googling up the rules to explain to Slow who was trying to take pictures but unfortunately her new camera which she had to buy because she dropped the old one on the floor and broke the flash takes blurry pictures. Serves her right. I hate the flash thing anyway.
Therefore Sports Fans we have no digital images that are fit to publish tonight. Tsk. Tsk. My editor/photographer is way slack. Unprepared. She should have checked her equipment before game time. I am giving her a yellow card which is handed out by FIFA refs for unsportsmanlike conduct and a bunch of other things. Whatever, if you get two yellow cards you get a red card and you’re out. I like that better than the three strikes thing.
Speaking of strikes, Slow’s Longhorns got hooked by Vandy last night and are out of the College World Series in Omaha. Bummer for her. She conveniently can’t locate her orange cap tonight, I see.
Get me outta here Percy…in training for Wimbledon and TV lag…starts tomorrow at 5:00 a.m.
I know how it feels to have a camera dropped but for me the one who dropped it was someone else

I know it feels to have my camera dropped but in my case it wasn’t me but a family member

No fun to drop a camera – much less have someone else drop it for you! 😦

I thought of you Sheila as I saw that ball thunder in to the net. I nearly collapsed. I so wanted the US to win. They’ve been extremely impressive. Now it’s Germany my favourite team so I’m in a bit of a crisis, US or Germany. Going to be tough. 🙂

We had already counted that game as won, Don, at our house so needless to say the air burst out of our balloon as quickly as it had been pumped up! Jiminy Crickets…as for the upcoming game…I appreciate your dilemma and you are sweet to think about us with such loyalty, but please pull for your favourites. I’m afraid the Americans might have just left everything they had on the field against Portugal so I am not hopeful. 😦
As for us at Casa de Canterbury, we are still trying to figure out the game – we’re developing a healthy interest, though, regardless.
Thanks for hanging in with The Red Man!
