Well Amigos, The Red Man’s nerves are jangling as much in The Middle watching Olympic women’s gymnastics from The Edge as they did in 2012 watching Olympic women’s gymnastics from the bleacher seats in the living room at Casa de Canterbury with Pretty and the Old Woman Slow. I’ve got Nerves that jingle, jangle, jingle…which reminds me of the song about Spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle…which is neither here nor there and my “here” is a long, long way from your “there.” Heh, heh. My little celestial joke.
Team USA gymnast Gabby Douglas says Nailed It!
after unbelievable performance on the uneven bars
USA Team Member Simone Biles spins on Beam
(she is from Spring, Texas not far from Worsham Street)
Just a little glitch…
…but hey, it’s a 4 INCH BEAM
Olympic small talk
(I thought she was pretty good, didn’t you?)
Team USA reacts to Gold Medal
l. to r. Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Simone Biles,
Madison Kocian, Laurie Hernandez
They call themselves the FINAL FIVE!
(next year’s team can only have four –
what’s up with that?)
Hey, girls, The Red Man sends Paw Snaps and Twirls to you from the highest uneven bar you’ll never see – congratulations – you break records and impossible barriers every time you enter an event – WOW!!
And speaking of breaking barriers, Paw Snaps and Twirls to Nike for their commercial featuring Chris Mosier, the first transgender Team USA member…an athlete competing in the duathlon in track and field. Slow and Pretty couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw that commercial, let me tell you.
Way to go, Chris – we heard the barrier break
all the way up here in The Middle!
Meanwhile, back at the swimming pool that still has blue water Michael Phelps was about to win a very close race in the Men’s 200M Butterfly. So close he won the cigar, er I mean, Gold Medal.
Quite an entrance –
(no disrespect, man, but you need a new Pool Look)
The Red Man loves an aerial view
Gold Medal # 20, if anyone is counting
(Now THIS is a look The Red Man loves)
Twenty Gold Medals deserves more than Paw Snaps and Twirls, but that’s the highest honor we can send from where we are so they’re coming to you with celestial admiration for your perseverance over huge obstacles to win # 20 (and # 21 later last night) – you’re the Man, Michael.
To the Victor
The ecstasy of winning…
…the agony of defeat
And finally, bad news for Team USA in women’s tennis: Serena Williams, ranked # 1 in the world, lost in the third round of the 2016 Olympics to Elina Svitolina of the Ukraine.
The Red Man sends Paw Snaps and Twirls to Elina for her outstanding play against Serena but is stunned to not see the name of a Williams Sister in either the singles or doubles match for the gold in tennis. Shocking…I hear murmurs of disbelief from The Middle even as we speak.
Well, Sports Fans, that’s all the news that’s fit to print in my humble opinion so we say farewell for tonight and asta la vista which is Spanish for catch you later on.
Mommy’s just about decided to quick watching the Olympics and rely on your artful recaps, Red Man. Far fewer commercials from The Middle than from NBC, although the Nike one featuring Chris Mosier was deserving of a gold medal. P.S. Mommy cracked up when she read your Phelps fashion commentary. 😉

Yes, The Red Man is quite the reporter, isn’t he? 🙂
And still so very opinionated…some things never change…
