Whew! Are you kidding me? The Gamecocks squeaked by another heart-stopper and The Red Man had to leave the bleacher seats on Worsham Street to escape the raw emotions and even rawer language of the old woman Slow during the game at Central Florida earlier today. Yep, final score was 28 to 25 as the Cocks snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Here’s my nominations for the Game Changers today. Familiar names. Familiar faces. My heroes.
The Red Man’s Personal Favorite
JC – Jadeveon Clowney
Doesn’t have last year’s numbers, but opponenets develop game plans around him
Mike Davis – Running Back
Big shoes to fill with loss of Marcus Lattimore last season –
but he’s up to the job
He had so many rushing yards our statistician lost count
The Old Bald Coach Steve Spurrier
Behind 10 – 0 at halftime
He can flat-out make adjustments –
Give him The Red Man’s Paw Snaps and Twirls Game Ball!
Bad News for the Cocks today when QB Connor Shaw went down with a shoulder injury in the first quarter. Backup QB Dylan Thompson took the field and did a good job of game management. What does this turn of events mean for the season? Only time and the Kentrucky game next week will tell…
In the meantime, hope all of our Amigos and Sports Fans are having a fabulous weekend and all your favorite teams are winning. A special condolence to our LSU blogger friend the K-9 Miss Harper Lee and her mommy and daddy and all of our LSU neighbor fans on Worsham Street tonight as they were on the losing side of a heartbreaker between the hedges in Athens.
LSU QB Zach Mettenberger had a helluva game –
took some hard hits but played his heart out

Get me outta here Percy – with all this excitement I need to take a paws to pee…
Ma and I have no clue what you’re talking about, but we’re thinking there was a lot of screaming going on, and in the end you all are happy. Thank goodness! 😉
Congrats on 3 whole years! We certainly have been entertained, and hope to read many more years worth of terrier talking points!
Love to all from Pennsylvania.

Yes, All’s well that ends well, as The Red Man is fond of saying, but it wasn’t without high drama. Thank you so very much for all of your encouragement in the past year and we have loved being a part of your Pennsylvania family, too!!
You are all troopers for reading about things in which you have no interest!!! We love you for it…:)

Love the way you put it all together Sheila. I can just feel the excitement. marvellous image of that guy with his bum in the air. What’s he doing, eating grass or something?

Don, you make me laugh with your comments on American football! Actually, the guy with his bum in the air has just unceremoniously knocked the other guy down at the end of a pass play (which resulted in a touchdown on this particular play) so I would imagine the guy would just’ve soon eaten grass as have the other team score. Football is a strange addiction, but Pretty and Slow grew up in families where it was important – and have never managed to kick the habit, although it defies some of their core nonviolent values. 🙂

Thanks so much for the explanation, Sheila. Some years ago I was in Cincinnati and my host took me to a baseball game. If I remember correctly it was the Cincinnati Red Socks and the Los Angeles Dodges. Loved it and realized that if I lived in America I could quite easily become a Baseball fan. I’m always sorry that I never attended an American Football game, but I’m mad about the other game of football – soccer.

I’m glad you saw a baseball game – it is supposedly America’s favorite sport – so you got to get a taste of our culture. You would’ve been a great football fan if you’d lived here! My soccer games have been sporadic, but I find them to be fun, too – I just don’t understand very much about them. Like you with our version. It’s good to know which sports our Sports Fans love! 🙂
