On this Memorial Day in 2014 The Red Man and all of his family at Casa de Canterbury remember those men and women who served our country with courage in wars – while they hoped for peace.
Slow’s father was a man you would have liked very much! He was caring, loyal, dedicated his life to public education because he believed an informed population was the only solution to poverty and cycles of hopelessness – but most of all, he was funny! He had his mother’s sense of humor and passed it along to his only child. They had good times.
Thanks for visiting us today – paw snaps and twirls to our dear friends in Pennsylvania!!
What a nice remembrance cousin, I thought of my Dad also yesterday, he was in the Navy on a sister ship to a ‘heavy cruiser’, and helped man the radio communications department in the super structure of the ship. He spent his 18 months in the Pacific, constantly bombarding Japanese islands. And my Navy man spent six years on an ‘attender’ ship with after much explanation to me, he would be sent on these smaller ships to go trouble shoot problems with the other ships, attender meaning attending to the needs of the ships, he was a mechanic. Interesting trivia for the day so there you have it. All from Tejas say hello to Canterbury folks. Much love, Church Organist
Oh of course I thought of my favorite Uncle Charlie and his naval service yesterday, too! And now I will add the Navy Man to my list of people I am grateful to for their service…thank you for the interesting trivia for the day. I can always count on the Church Organist for clarity on the situation. 🙂
Also remembered C.H. and my Uncle Ray, too.
Amen!
Slow’s father looks handsome in uniform.
Hugs and love on Memorial Day
from your Pennsylvania fans!
