Well Sports Fans, we’re missin’ the azaleas and dogwoods in bloom in our home state of South Carolina while we’re deep in the heart of Texas tonight, but we visited Daniel Island in Charleston this afternoon to catch a semi-final match for the Family Circle Tennis Tournament. Our grandstand seats in the den on Worsham were almost as good as the box seats Pretty’s tennis friends were enjoying in person at the Billy Jean King Court on a sultry Southern day
The Williams Sisters met for the 25th. time in their long tennis careers, and Serena served up a big dose of Whip Ass to older sister Venus. The Red Man loves some sisterhood, particularly on a tennis court.
Venus did her best…
but Serena was too hot to handle
The final score was 6-1, 6-2. Ouch. That puts a Time Out in the family dinner conversation for sure. Serena plays for the Championship tomorrow, and Venus heads to the locker room to text her family and friends and fans that she still loves her kid sister. Or something like that.
At any rate, if tennis comes, can golf be far behind? I’m sniffin’ the flowers at Augusta National.
Get me outta here Percy…Paw Licker Annie is barkin’ up a storm for a midnight treat and I’ll race her to the kitchen…
Does the Red Man offer any tips or touts? My mascota (I love that Spanish word) in Cleveland ran into a dry spell in Niagara. She still resides in Ohio, in very good hands.

A mascota from Cleveland hits a dry spell in Niagara. Hmmm…sounds like a C & W song to me. Glad she’s in very good hands now! 🙂

Hoteles de Mascotas…Clinica de Mascotas…and, the one the Red Man and pack would love – La Playa de Mascotas. A beach for pets.

That was a mighty horrible thrashing Venus got there. Must be great to be able to be there and watch the matches live.

Yes, in Pretty’s tennis days before her work interfered with her play, she didn’t miss a Family Circle tournament for decades, literally more than twenty years. I went with her when I could – I liked it better when it was at Hilton Head Island. Much smaller and more opportunities to visit with players! Daniel Island beautiful setting but like all sports venues these days, very corporate.

I’m starting to feel for Venus. I’ve heard my humans talking, and I think that one day I will be the older and possibly slower sister. Maybe Venus and I should have dinner to discuss this . . . or she could just hit a few tennis balls my way!

Yes, Venus tries and tries but the years keep clicking along for her…maybe next time…and Miss Harper Lee, let’s hope she doesn’t hit any tennis balls your way! They might be a little fast…:)

I kind of thought about the whole velocity issue after I wrote that. Maybe we’ll just have dinner and chat!

My sister used to slap me when I beat her at chess. How are these two still alive! 😉

Now THAT’S funny Dianne! I have a mental picture of your sister slapping you after a grueling chess match. Check mate – whack!! I’m LOL over here in Texas at the thought…and I have no clue how the Williams sisters have survived. They must have unbelievable abilities to compartmentalize their lives. Hope the RUC makes great progress this week!

Thank you! The builders are back on the job again (they must have been scared when they noticed my muscles!) LOL 😀

They came in Monday for an hour or so and then disappeared again. They’ve been very slack lately. I called them last night and left a message “um, remember my house?” LOL 😉 I’ll go there today and see if they’ve decided to make an appearance.

Uh oh. I’m thinking it might be time for Plan B? Do we have a Plan B? 🙂

I’ve got some people lined up just in case (but this is going to cost extra $$$ unfortunately). I haven’t written this on my blog in case the builders read it, but I’m getting mightily pissed off. Every time they do something and I pay them for it they disappear for days (or weeks) at a time. There is one final payment they are supposed to get ‘on completion’ but they’ve now asked that I dip into that. I did that once and gave them a bit before Easter and they disappeared for two weeks. So that’s the final straw – now I’m not going to give them any more of the ‘completion’ money until it’s completed.

Hell, no. Not another red cent until they get busy. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to resort to atypical behavior to make a point, if you catch my drift. So sorry about this for you and your family. We once had a contractor who made a career out of building bookshelves in our living room. Seriously. It was, like, four months. For bookshelves. In our living room. He had to move to Florida. I’m not sure where they’ll move in Australia! Stay cool. 😦

I’m staying very cool 😀 I went out to the farm a few hours ago and saw them. I told them I needed the place finished so I could get my deposit back (yes – I had to give the local government a deposit that they give back when the place is finished!) and I said I’d pay them when I get that back. Well – you should have seen them get moving! LOL 😀

Oh wow Dianne! Plan B is perfect – I wish I could’ve seen their faces when you told them they couldn’t get paid until they were finished…as a matter of fact, I would’ve paid good money to see that! Would it’ve been too obvious to snap a picture right at that moment?? 🙂 The hits just keep on rollin’ in Australia…glad they’re back at it.
