Well Amigos, look at this surprise The Red Man got in the snail mail today at Casa de Canterbury!
Portrait of moi by Nanina
Eat your heart out, ghost of John Singer Sargent – The Red Man has a cyberspace artist friend from Pennsylvania and she has captured the True Essence of The Red Man in her recent rendition. That’s what Pretty says anyway and Pretty should know since she also knows who John Singer Sargent is.
Paw Snaps and Twirls to our favorite artist Nanina – there is great joy in Mudville tonight!
Oh my goodness! What a lovely thing to say about my little sketch, Red. Thank Pretty for making me feel good tonight ’cause the paint was flinging everywhere but on the paper during my work session today. I am so glad you all like it, and I hope it continues to bring Slow many smiles!!!

If you typically work through “painter’s block” with the throwaways you sent us, be careful they don’t call you do a chapel somewhere! 🙂 Be sure to read the comments from Red’s readers…

It’s hard, so hard not to toss some stuff away in frustration. Surely you ball up a wads of paper and hit the rim of the circular file! There are probably gem lines and phrases you just can’t make into a sentence let alone a paragraph. 😀

Yes, I don’t know how Mark Twain wrote without a computer to delete, re-write, edit, etc. And even with that, I throw away tons of paper for the words I think I like but don’t when I see them for real. Putting words together is hard for me some days, and other days they seem to come from another person’s mind and spill over. 🙂

I do value Church Organist’s comment and all the others. Thank you so much. Made me smile great big smiles!!! 😀 This really was a throwaway sketch in my mind. It wasn’t working for me. Good thing I thought you might like to have it anyway, Red. Guess I can’t always trust my own judgement! Hmmm, anyone got a 14th century icon needing cleaning up?

That’s what you think. His mastery is in revealing his life with Slow and Pretty and the furry ones.

While my humans were off doing their own thing–the nerve–I missed your gorgeous portrait. Stunning, Red Man, and I see you didn’t have to pose nude for it, which is a good thing. 😉

Why thank you ma’am for the compliment, I’m sure. We all love The Red Man’s portrait and the Pennsylvania artist who gave it to us!
